Match Report
Seghill RFC put on a dominant display against Newton Aycliffe, securing an impressive 50-7 victory in a one-sided encounter. The home side were relentless from start to finish, with their combination of pace, power, and precision proving too much for Newton Aycliffe to handle.
First Half:
Seghill wasted no time in asserting their dominance, crossing the try line multiple times in the first 40 minutes. It was Jamie Malone who opened the scoring with a well-taken try to give Seghill the early lead. Matty McFadden quickly added to the tally, finishing off a flowing team move to score his first try for the club.
Newton Aycliffe did manage to hit back through a well-worked try, converting to make the score 12-7, but that was as close as they would come. Seghill responded with renewed intensity, with Micky Woods and Matty Sherman’s lung busting 40m run (prop) both crossing the whitewash to extend the lead before the break. Seghill went into halftime in full control at 24-7.
Half-Time: Seghill 24-7 Newton Aycliffe
Second Half:
The second half saw Seghill continue their onslaught, adding another 26 points to their tally. Jamie Malone grabbed his second try of the match, capping off an excellent personal performance. Pooley, King (C), and Stewart also got in on the act, each crossing the try line to put the result beyond doubt.
Newton Aycliffe struggled to gain any foothold in the game, with Seghill's forwards dominating the breakdown and their backs exploiting every inch of space in attack. Despite Aycliffe's efforts, they were unable to add to their first-half score, with Seghill's defense holding firm.
In the end, Seghill ran out comfortable 50-7 winners, a comprehensive performance that underlined their superiority on the day.
A dominant all-round display from Seghill, with their clinical finishing and solid defense earning them a well-deserved victory.
